Tour of Huis Dickninge and the Reestdal

You walk to Dickninge (also Dikninge), an estate near the Wijk that extends to the Reest. On the estate is"Huize Dickninge\\\", a stately country house surrounded by a moat. The estate around Huize Dickninge has been furnished in English landscape style since around 1820. The estate is freely accessible. Then you walk through the Reestdal. This winding river forms the border between Overijssel and Drenthe for several dozen kilometers. Here you walk through a mosaic of hayfields, old hedgerows, ash trees, heathland and forest. The old thatched farms fit perfectly into this decor. A true paradise for nature lovers! You walk back past the village church of IJhorst dating from 1823, there is a wooden bell tower.
