This route is offered to you by'The friends of De Kempen\\\'.
This route passes some of our members in'De Kempen\\\' and is part of 8 other cycling day trips. You can find our addresses in our booklets, which are available free of charge from our participants and the Visit/Tourist Info offices in"De Brabantse Kempen\\\".
You depart from De Weitens, where overnight stays are also possible. From here you leave in a northerly direction along the Keersop around Dommelen towards Waalre. At the third bridge you will find a Kasteel farm on the right where you can buy products just like the neighbors. But at't Geveltje you can do much more, namely participate in all kinds of group activities. After these points on the Dommel, you will then pass several catering terraces and a water mill that generates electricity. A nice place to hold your meetings here with a view of the water. From here you take a detour to return via a bicycle bridge over the Dommel to a place where St Willibrordus founded a wooden church around 707. Now replaced by a stone Old Church with the oldest still working clock. A little further on you will find the Waalres museum and from here you return to Valkenswaard where we will also find three more museums. This beautifully illustrates how our prosperity came about in the South of the Netherlands. From here we go to the center (FKP 95 and tourist office), and then leave the center to the right of the Church. Via back roads and some farms we pass Rofra and the Carriage Museum. Further on we pass the Malpie Hoeve with delicious ice creams and via the Malpie nature reserve we pass a few more farms in Borkel with products for sale and a mill that operates on Wed and Sat. is open in the afternoon and on the 1st Saturday of the month there is even a mill market. From here we go past the War Cemetery on the Luikerweg back to our starting point"De Weitens\\\" in Dommelen!
