Tour through Hooghalen Forestry

Your route starts at Holiday Park Diana Heide. From here you can walk straight into the forest. The Heart of Drenthe consists of extensive nature reserves such as Boswachterij Hooghalen, with beautiful wet stream valleys and dense forests. In these forests the trees sometimes suddenly part and you unexpectedly encounter an open field or a mysterious lake. The deeper you penetrate into the heart of the sea of trees, the quieter it becomes. Badgers hide in the forests and search for food in the stream valleys. Among the spruce and larch trees of the Hooghalen forestry you will find the Resistance Monument and the former Westerbork camp. You will also pass the National Monument Camp Westerbork. This compelling monument was designed by a survivor who served in the labor camp, Ralph Prins.
