Tour Het Rutbeek and Estate Zonnebeek

Today you will discover Het Rutbeek, an area of 120 hectares with forests, water features, meadows and recreational facilities. The area was created around a sand excavation. Already in the sixties of the twentieth century there were plans for the construction of a recreation area, in 1982 it opened. On the way back you walk across Landgoed Zonnebeek, around Huis Zonnebeek, which was built in 1906. This was once the home of a textile manufacturer: Jan Bernard van Heek (1863-1923) lived here with his American wife Edwina Burr Ewing (1872-1945) . It is a beautiful estate with the accompanying coach house and other buildings, the surrounding park and the adjacent nature reserve.
