Starting point: Visitor center De Poelboerderij
The most varied walk of all ten with both expansive views and heritage. With the bouncer: the Zaan. The Wormer and Jisperveld is the largest contiguous peat meadow area in Western Europe. It consists of hundreds of meadows bordered by rustling reeds and narrow ditches. This vast nature reserve is teeming with birds. In order not to disturb them, you may only enter the area with whisper boats. Yet there is plenty to see and hear from the edge of De Poel. After this first part you walk on the Dorpsstraat of the old ribbon village of Wormer, after which the route leads past an ice rink to the dike of the Enge Wormer. Here you can clearly see how low some Zaankanters live.
In 1638, the former lake was pumped dry, which is now on the left from the dike. The hamlet of Bartelsluis officially belongs to Wormer. Via the special town hall you walk to the Zaan with the old industrial wall and modern companies, to eventually look back at the starting point.
Tip: take a look at the pond farm and rent a canoe or join an whisper boat trip.
