Description

Ancient vast forests, picturesque villages, historic sights and beautiful views. You can see it all during this cycling tour through the surroundings of Anhée, Belgium, near the French border.

The villages of Purnode and Crupet
From Anhée you cross the Meuse and cycle uphill to the village of Purnode. Here you pass Brasserie du Bocq. This brewery was founded in 1858 in a farm and it was named after a tributary of the Meuse. The brewery is still owned by the same family. Pay a visit to the brewery and taste the various specialty beers that are brewed there, such as Deugniet and La Gauloise. You continue through the woods to Crupet. The cave next to the church of Sint-Martinus in this village is a place of pilgrimage. Pastor Gerard devoted his life to making this cave. You will also find the impressive castle Carondelet, a donjon from the fourteenth century.
