Description

In the Belgian province of Namur you will find quiet old forests and old picturesque villages. This route takes you through the area of Anhée, a village not far from the French border. And you notice that not only in the language, but also in the Burgundian way of life of good food and drinks, conviviality and a relaxed rhythm of life.

Beautiful sights
From Anhée you make a climb and drive through stately old forests and past grass and arable lands to Falaën. You will pass the Castle of Falaën, a fortified castle farm from the seventeenth century. A little further on you will pass another impressive historical site: the Musee des Ruines Medievales de Montaigle. This former fortress is located on top of a steep rock.

Montaigle Castle
The ruin of the castle of Montaigle is located at the confluence of the Molignée and the Flavion. There was already a garrison here in Late Roman times. A fortress was built here at the beginning of the fourteenth century. In 1554, the fortress was burned down during the battle between the French king and Charles V. The castle lost its strategic value and became overgrown.
