Tour of Apeldoorn and IJssel

Your route starts at RG Tweewielers. You cycle towards IJssel via the small towns of De Vecht and Terwolde. The Matanze estate probably dates from the seventeenth century. It was a country estate, intended as a summer residence for wealthy people to live in and not as a defense structure. You cycle through the IJsselvallei to the Bolwerksmolen, a sawmill in Deventer on the west bank of the IJssel. At the beginning of the 21st century, the mill appeared to have subsided to such an extent that a major restoration lasting a year and a half was necessary. The mill is operated by the Bolwerksmolen Foundation. The Wilpermolen is a round stone mill from 1736. The mill was restored in 1766 after it burned out. Since then the mill has been preserved in good condition.
