Norg Roden

Hunebed D1 (Drenthe 1) is the northernmost hunebed of Drenthe, located in the town of Steenbergen. Steenbergen used to be a usual Drenthe name for a hunebed and the place name Steenbergen will therefore be derived from the large, almost complete hunebed that lies there. The hunebed is a beautiful picture in combination with the surroundings. A visit to this hunebed is definitely worth it. The dolmen is located just south of Roden in the Noorderduinen, 150 meters from the paved road diagonally against the slope of a sand drift.

The petting zoo
Along the way you will also come across the Roden petting zoo. The petting zoo consists of a few lands with accommodation for goats, ponies, sheep, llama, kangaroos, rabbits, guinea pigs and what is more common in a petting zoo. All these animals can be touched and cuddled and one can move freely between them. Deer, swans and other water birds, including beautiful species of ducks, can be admired in separate enclosed areas.
There is also a beautiful bird house with exotic birds.
There is also a playground with various swings, various seesaws, slides, balance beam and climbing frames, surrounded by benches with tables, where parents can keep an eye on things. All playground equipment is certified and periodically inspected.

After the petting zoo you can enjoy a delicious lunch or a tasty ice cream in between in the cozy green village of Roden.
