From Gorssel you can cross the IJssel with a ferry. You cycle along quiet roads past meadows and fields. Around junction 49 you have a beautiful view over the river. Further on you can take a look at the ruins of Nijenbeek Castle from the thirteenth century. You cycle to Empe through a mix of estate forest and vast grounds. Here lies the Oude IJssel, a nature reserve that developed around a former branch of the IJssel. You cross the IJssel again, after which you explore the center of the Hanseatic city of Zutphen. Here you can still see plenty of beautiful old buildings. Just before junction 43 you pass Landgoed de Voorst. You cross the Twentekanaal and cycle back to Gorssel via Eefde. At Restaurant'T Elf Uur you can enjoy a delicious meal.
