From Gorssel you cross the IJssel by ferry. You cycle along quiet roads past meadows and fields. Around junction 49 you have a beautiful view over the river. Further on you can take a look at the ruins of Kasteel Nijenbeek from the thirteenth century. Through a mix of estate forest and wide grounds you cycle to Empe. Here lies the Oude IJssel, a nature reserve that was created around a former tributary of the IJssel. You cross the IJssel again, after which you explore the centre of the Hanseatic city of Zutphen. Here you can still see many beautiful old buildings. Just before junction 43 you pass Landgoed de Voorst. You cross the Twentekanaal, via Eefde you cycle back to Gorssel. At Restaurant'T Elf Uur you can enjoy a delicious meal.
