Description

Your cycling route starts at Hotel Café Kreutzer. Via the Gulpdal near Slenaken and the beautiful Noorbeek you cycle to the nice village of Mheer, once voted one of the ten most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. For example, you will see the seventeenth-century St. Lambertus Church, with the fourteenth-century Mheer Castle behind it. You also cycle past Groenendaal: a large nineteenth-century farm that was once a castle. Then you discover little Wahlwiller. North of the village there are three vineyards on the slopes. The village of Wahlwiller originated along an old Roman road from Maastricht to Aachen:'willer\\\' is derived from the Latin'villare\\\', which means belonging to a villa. Roman farms were located here long ago!'Wahl\\\' refers to the'Walloons\\\', an old name for Celts.
