These are the Onlanden, with expansive grasslands, but also copses and hedgerows. In Lettelbert, you can visit a small, squat church from the thirteenth century. You'll also cycle through the hamlet of Peizermade. 'Made' means meadow or pasture, so the meadow near Peize. This was once a very wet area that often flooded. Through the Stadspark (City Park), you enter the city of Groningen, home to the Groninger Museum. Make a stop in the charming city of Groningen and then cycle back via Hoornsemeer lake, on the border between the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen. Together with Paterswoldsemeer lake, it forms the Drenthe-Groningen lake district.
