Tour of Groningen and Leekster- and Hoornsemeer

Your route starts at Cnossen Leekstermeer. Around the Leekstermeer you cycle through rough lowland peat areas in the valley between the higher Drenthe sandy soils and Groningen clay soils. These are the Onlanden, with wide grasslands, but also woods and hedgerows. In Lettelbert you can visit a small, squat church from the thirteenth century. You also cycle through the hamlet of Peizermade.'Made\\\' means meadow or grassland, the meadow near Peize. In the past this was an extremely wet area that often flooded. Through the Stadspark you cycle into the city of Groningen, with the Groninger Museum. Make a stop in the pleasant Groningen and then cycle back via the Hoornsemeer, on the border between the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen. Together with the Paterswoldsemeer it forms the Drents-Groningen lake area.
