Description

The route starts at Harry\\\'s Tweewielers in Callantsoog. In the heart of Schagen you will see the Christoforus Church from 1883. The towers of Schagen Castle date from the Middle Ages. Then you drive through Stroet (the Old Frisian word for swampy). In Burgervlotbrug you see one of the five remaining raft bridges in the Netherlands. Then you cycle to the Groetermolen, an octagonal mill from 1890 between Groet and Petten. This mill was used until 1977 to drain the 220 hectare Groeterpolder. You cycle through the nice Groet and take a moment to see a piece of the highest and widest dunes in the Netherlands: the Schoorlse Duinen. Further on you drive a bit along the Hondsbossche Zeewering. Then you drive into the Pettemerduinen and Zwanenwater: a relatively unknown, therefore wonderfully quiet nature reserve.
