Groeneveld estate (NS route)

Starting point: Baarn station. End point: Hilversum Noord station A stately estate, forest paths and the vast Westerheide guarantee a varied walk. First you walk across the Groeneveld estate, a park in the romantic English landscape style. Groeneveld Castle can be visited (closed on Mondays). Then the route goes through the forest and over the vast Zuiderheide and Westerheide. Charolais cattle graze on the heath, which, just like the sheep with their shepherd in the past, prevent the heath from growing over with grass, trees and shrubs. It can sometimes be busy here on weekends.
