Tour of Brunssummerheide and Rimburg

First, you'll drive to the nearby Brunssumerheide. This is the only large heathland in South Limburg. Besides heathlands, you'll also see forests and fens. With a bit of luck, you'll hear the cowbells ringing, a sign that the shepherd and his flock of sheep are nearby. In Rimburg, you'll pass the Trinity Church, a beautiful national monument dating from 1726. A little later, you'll cross the Worm, a tributary of the Roer River that forms part of the Dutch-German border. Along the waterfront lie the eighteenth-century Rimburg Mill and Rimburg Castle, a fortress originally dating from the twelfth century. Historically, these two buildings belonged to Rimburg, but since 1816, they have been on German territory.
