Tour of Roermond and the Old Cemetery

Your route starts with a cup of coffee at Hotel and Grand Café De Pauw. At the Oude Kerkhof you will discover the'grave with the hands\\\': two graves on either side of the wall between the Catholic and Protestant parts of the cemetery. The Catholic damsel van Aefferden was married to the Protestant colonel van Gorkum. When they died after more than 40 years of marriage, their graves were connected by stone hands. You walk back via Het Witte Kerkje. This Jacobus chapel was built in the 15th century, directly south of Roermond. It is located in a beautiful authentic area between Roer and Maas, which was later called'Suburban St. Jacob\\\'. Then you cross the Roer via the beautiful Stone Bridge from 1771.
