Schimmert Tour from Valkenburg

You'll first cycle towards Ingendael: a wonderfully tranquil nature reserve with flower-filled meadows through which the Geul River meanders. Here you'll pass Sint Gerlach Castle, built as a monastery in the 12th century. It wasn't until the 19th century that the monastery was converted into a castle. Next, you'll discover charming villages like Schimmert, one of the highest villages (including its church) in the Netherlands. Finally, you'll enter Valkenburg, a city with a rich cycling history, having hosted five World Championships and two Tour de France finishes. But history has also left other traces, such as the ruins of Valkenburg Castle.
