The Zevenhuizerplas and the Windlust mill near Nieuwerkerk

Your walking route starts with a cup of coffee at Van der Valk Hotel Rotterdam-Nieuwerkerk. From here you first walk to Korenmolen Windlust, whose history dates back to 1586. For half a century, the mill stood without sails and cap at the Kortenoord. After five years of restoration, the mill complex was opened in 2005. In addition to the corn mill, you will also find the miller's house, a tea room, workshop and bakery here. A historic spot on the Hollandsche IJssel! Then you walk to the Zevenhuizerplas, a very special lake with the skyline of Rotterdam behind it. The Zevenhuizerplas was created by sand extraction. It is a true paradise for water sports. Nature is also given space here: for example, the kingfisher, cormorant, heron and all kinds of reed birds can be found here. Fun to discover!
