Description
Your cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at Van der Valk Avifauna. From here you can discover the Lagenwaard polders. This vast polder landscape is criss-crossed by ditches and dotted with windmills. During this route you will pass a lot of windmills, including the Vlietmolen, which was built in 1913. You will also cycle along the south bank of the Wijde Aa. This elongated lake has a lot of through-going pleasure craft. There is a covered marina and you can swim there. You also cycle along the water of the Heijmanswetering, the Braassemermeer and the Zuideinderplas. In Roelofarendsveen you can see that a lot of horticulture is being done. From 1900 this village had its own auction. You follow the Oude Rijn back to Alphen aan de Rijn. Nice to taste the atmosphere!
