Hengelo Tour: Tuindorp 't Lansink

Your walking route starts at the Leonardo Hotel Hengelo City Center . After a cup of coffee, lace up your walking shoes. First, you'll stroll through Tuindorp 't Lansink, a beautiful old neighborhood that's a protected landmark. You'll pass the former coffee house of the Stork company, dating from 1916. Then, you'll stroll through the charming old heart of Hengelo. Like Enschede, Hengelo's rise came thanks to the textile industry in the nineteenth century. This industry led to the construction of a railway network, and the Hengelo junction was an attractive location for industrial companies. You can admire some beautiful old buildings here, such as the Market Square and the old St. Lambertus Basilica. Townhouses and authentic factory buildings, many of which have been repurposed, pay tribute to the city's history.
