Tour of Hengelo: Tuindorp't Lansink

Your walking route starts at City Hotel Hengelo. After a cup of coffee you put on your hiking boots. First you walk through Tuindorp't Lansink, a beautiful old neighborhood that enjoys a protected appearance. You walk past the former coffee house of the Stork company from 1916. Then you walk through the beautiful old heart of Hengelo. Like Enschede, Hengelo emerged thanks to the textile industry in the nineteenth century. The industry led to the construction of a railway network and the Hengelo junction was an attractive place for industrial companies. There are some beautiful old buildings to admire here, such as the Market Square and the old Saint Lambert Basilica. City villas and the authentic factory buildings, which have often been given a new function, pay tribute to the history of the city.
