Tour of nature reserves near Dronten and Biddinghuizen

Nearby you will discover a nature reserve that is not so well known, De Zeelt in the Lage Vaartbos. Beavers, roe deer and the kingfisher live here. On the other side of the water you cycle through the Wisentbos, named after the primeval animal that lived here in large numbers long ago. Further on you will discover the Reve-Abbertbos, a young nature reserve with its mix of deciduous and coniferous forest. In autumn, more than 500 mushroom species grow here! The Flevopolder is not that old yet, but in prehistoric times there was an extensive coniferous forest here and the river IJssel also contributed to the formation of the landscape. Unbelievable that the Zuiderzee was still here a century ago!
