This route takes you through the polders and dunes surrounding Schoorl. The first few kilometers follow the winding West Frisian Circular Dike. From this medieval water defense, you have a magnificent view of the grasslands and waterways. Just past junction 41, you'll see a watchtower in the middle of the field on your left. Here lie the remains of the thirteenth-century Nuwendoorn Castle. Its foundations were only rediscovered in 1948. From Schoorl, there's a steep climb, but the effort is more than rewarding: you'll then cycle through one of the most beautiful dune areas in the Netherlands. At junction 29, you'll cycle through Mennonietenbuurt, a village founded by Mennonites in the eighteenth century. In the Zijpepolder, you'll see two beautiful, centuries-old polder mills. The route ends at De Wielen Recreation Park.
