Nature and culture tour: Weldam and Wegdam

Your route starts at Camping Den Blanken. Weldam is one of the estates located in Kerspel Goor. The estate was first mentioned in 1389. The castle was extensively renovated in 1645, but it fell into serious disrepair in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries due to vacancy. In 1879 the castle was restored when a new owner purchased the estate. The beautiful garden is open daily. A few hundred meters further on lies the Wegdam estate, on which a manor has also been built. The castle was first mentioned in 1400. The current house was built in 1758. Above the entrance are still the coats of arms of the then owners. The castle is privately inhabited and is not open to the public.
