Tour of nature and culture: Weldam and Wegdam

Your route starts at Camping Den Blanken. Weldam is one of the manors located in the Kerspel Goor. The estate is first mentioned in 1389. In 1645 the castle was extensively renovated, but it fell into serious disrepair in the eighteenth and nineteenth century due to vacancy. In 1879 the castle was restored when a new owner bought the estate. The beautiful garden is open daily. A few hundred meters further on, the Wegdam estate extends, on which a manor house has also been built. The castle is first mentioned in 1400. The current house was built in 1758. Above the entrance are still the coats of arms of the then owners. The castle is privately inhabited and is not open to the public.
