Tour of the Kasteelse forests near Horst

This route starts at Parkhotel Horst with a cup of coffee. You have a beautiful view over the water of the Roeipond that you will walk past later! A little further on you will also discover the Visvijver. Put on your walking shoes and take a nice trip through the Kasteelse woods, a beautiful nature and recreation area in Horst, North Limburg. This area, which consists of approximately 100 hectares, was originally an estate forest that belonged to Huys or Kasteel Ter Horst. The stately avenues remind you of that time. There are still many oaks, beeches and Scots pines that were planted around 1800. The castle ruins are still a remnant of this estate: Kasteel Ter Horst was a fortress that was built in the early fourteenth century.
