Tour of Lieren, Apeldoorn and Beekbergerwoud

Your cycling route starts at Camping De Vinkenkamp. Today's tour takes you around Apeldoorn. In the village of Lieren, you pass the Beekbergen VSM (Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij) station, a stop on the tourist steam train that shuttles between Apeldoorn and Dieren. The line was built in 1887 at the initiative of King William III. After that, you cycle through Apeldoorn. Around 1800, this was still just a village. During the nineteenth century, it grew rapidly into a city now known for its many beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. The Beekbergerwoud was once the last remaining primeval forest in the Netherlands.
