Tour of the Maasplassen: Thorn and Stevensweert from Wessem

First you cycle through the picturesque Thorn. This town has a historic centre with white houses and many authentic buildings from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. The town was the capital of a miniature principality for over 800 years. At Kessenich and Ophoven you cycle a bit through Belgium. Back in the Netherlands you cycle over the Island in the Maas. In Stevensweert you experience the atmosphere of times gone by. The Linnerweerd is one of the few remaining natural floodplains of the Maas.
