The area between Cadier en Keer en Bemelen is perfect for a nice walk. You might expect big hills in this area just outside Maastricht, but nothing could be further from the truth. Compared to the rest of South Limburg, the climbs here are not too bad. So no sore legs during this hike, but very nice views.Marl quarries in a nature reserveThe village of Cadier en Keer is the starting point of this hike. This village is located on the Plateau of Margraten, which gives you a beautiful view of both Maastricht and the Maas valley. From this village you walk to Bemelen, another typical Limburg village on the edge of the Maas valley. You then walk through the De Bemelerberg nature reserve, which consists of a hill. In this area you will find five marl quarries, one of which is an above-ground quarry. From here you walk back to Cadier en Keer via the town of Gasthuis. There is a restaurant in the clubhouse of the golf course where you can enjoy a delicious meal or a cup of coffee. Would you like to explore this area by bike? Then try route 352480.The BundersbergThe Bemelerberg is not the only hill you will encounter on this walk. Near Cadier en Keer you walk on a beautiful sunken road up the Bundersberg in the direction of the village. This hill winds through wooded area in the direction of't Rooth marl quarry. Both the Bemelerberg and the Bundersberg are very popular with cyclists.
