The great lighthouse e-bike route

You first drive past the Groote Kaap lighthouse. The steel tower is almost seventeen meters high and is still used to signal traffic on the water. A little later you see Lange Jaap in the distance, with its almost 64 meters it is the highest cast iron lighthouse in Europe. Around Den Helder you will discover lighthouses, nature reserves and bulb fields. The Donkere Duinen nature reserve was formed from the remains of an old Wadden island that grew on the mainland in the sixteenth century through drifting sand. It is wonderful to cycle here through the vast dunes, intensely colored bulb fields and grasslands. You also drive through Julianadorp, named after Princess Juliana when she was born in 1909.
