The great lighthouse e-bike route

You'll first pass the Groote Kaap lighthouse. The steel tower is almost seventeen meters tall and is still used to signal water traffic. A little later, you'll see Lange Jaap in the distance; at almost 64 meters, it's the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in Europe. Around Den Helder, you'll discover lighthouses, nature reserves, and bulb fields. The Donkere Duinen nature reserve was formed from the remains of an old Wadden island that was attached to the mainland by drifting sand in the sixteenth century. It's a wonderful place to cycle through the vast dunes, vibrantly colored bulb fields, and grasslands. You'll also cycle through Julianadorp, named after Princess Juliana at her birth in 1909.
