From Recreation Park De Wielen, you'll enjoy a beautiful day of cycling in the Kop van Noord-Holland region. First, you'll head west. You'll cross the North Holland Canal via one of the five remaining pontoon bridges, then cycle along the dunes to Callantsoog. Here you'll see, among other things, the sixteenth-century Reformed Church. As you cycle through the dunes, you'll see Lange Jaap in the distance. At almost 64 meters, it's the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in Europe. A little later, you'll head south again. This time, you'll cycle along the Donkere Duinen (Dark Dunes), a nature reserve formed from the remains of an old Wadden island that was attached to the mainland by drifting sand in the sixteenth century. Finally, you'll cycle a few kilometers through the bulb fields around Julianadorp and Schagerbrug.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
