Tour Den Helder, Callantsoog and Sint Maartenszee

In and around Den Helder you will discover lighthouses, nature reserves and bulb fields. The Donkere Duinen nature reserve was formed from the remains of an old Wadden Island that grew onto the mainland in the sixteenth century through drifting sand. In the distance you can already see Lange Jaap, at almost 64 meters it is the highest cast iron lighthouse in Europe. You drive on to Callantsoog to sit on a terrace or have a bite to eat. You drive back past the Groote Kaap lighthouse. The steel tower is almost seventeen meters high and is still used to signal traffic on the water.
