Tour Drents Friese Wold: Doldersum and Zorgvlied

Your route starts at Zonnekamp Camping, in the middle of the forest near Zorgvlied. National Park Drents-Friese Wold is located on the border of Drenthe and Friesland, the largest contiguous forest area in the Netherlands after the Veluwe. In addition to forest, you will also find heaths, shifting sands and relaxing stream valley grasslands. From the campsite you can walk straight into the vast forests of the national park. Here you will discover Watchtower Doldersummerveld, also known as the Polish watchtower. Here you have a magnificent view over the open heathland. At the beginning of July the fields are yellow because of the blooming legumes, in late summer heather turns the plain purple. In between you will pass through Doldersum, a town where the old village green is still in its original location: on the edge of the village.
