Tour Wedde from the Weddermeer

Your walking route starts at Paviljoen & Villapark Weddermeer. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the terrace and then put on your hiking boots. In Wedde you can take a look at the Church of Wedde, a modest structure that nevertheless dates from the thirteenth century. Some lords of the Wedderburcht are buried there, which you walk past a little later. The Wedderburcht, or Huis te Wedde, originally dates from the fourteenth century. You then walk along the edge of the Hoorndermeden, a nature reserve on the Westerwoldse Aa with vast swampy grasslands. Part of the route leads you right along the banks of the Westerwoldsche Aa. How wonderfully quiet it is here! You walk back along the Spinnenkop Wedderveer: a small sawmill from 1938.
