On the east side of the town of Strabeek, you will find the private farm Strabach. This farm is located on a stream that flows into the Geul. Part of the historic farm has been converted into a mansion. Traces of a moat have never been found around the farm, so there has probably never been a fortified house in this area. In the past that was common. It is not clear exactly when the farm was built, but the farm can already be found on a map from 1825. In addition to the farm, there are other buildings on the site. All these buildings were built in 1825 and they are all built from marl, which comes from the caves in the area. Today the farm is used as a hotel and restaurant.
