Description
The cycle route shows the newly constructed Oldambtmeer in all its facets. The Oldambtmeer is approximately 800 ha, the same size as the Sneekermeer. & Nbsp; It was constructed as part of the Blauwestad project on the spot where Lake Huninga was located until 1848.
The construction of the lake and Blauwestad started on 12 May 2004. On May 12, 2005 an important step in the creation of the Oldambtmeer took place. Queen Beatrix turned on the tap, allowing the lake to fill up. In the summer of 2006 the lake reached the desired level of 0.45 m -NAP.
