Eight Beatitudes walking route

In the heart of the Kempen you will find the Acht Zaligheden: Eersel, Duizel, Steensel, Knegsel, Wintelre, Reusel, Hulsel and Netersel. In the past, all these place names ended in'sel\\\' and were called'de selligheden\\\', or'de zaligheden\\\'. But Dutch soldiers who were stationed here during the Belgian Revolution mockingly called the villages'de armzaligheden\\\'. But they are beautiful places! With this walking route you will explore three of these authentic villages in one go: Eersel, Duizel, Steensel. The route starts at the Bengel in Eersel. In the village of Steensel there is a church tower that dates back to the fifteenth century. The route also takes you through the Wolfhoeksche Heide near Knegsel. Enjoy the view over the water at Landgoed Duynenwater, the former E3 beach. The route ends again at the market in Eersel, after your walk sit down on one of the cozy terraces.
