Description

With this bike tour you will discover the beautiful nature with its characteristic flora and fauna of this area in Drenthe. You cycle to Dwingelderveld National Park, the largest wet heathland area in Western Europe. Wet lows and high sand ridges alternate. You will find heathland, forest, juniper groves, drifting sand and more than forty fens. Some of these fens were created during the Ice Age, others are the result of peat excavations. In the spring you see white peat fluff, in the summer the heather turns purple. You cycle a bit through Dwingervel National Park, and then end in Dwingeloo. Dwingeloo is a lively village with a beautiful village green. The village center is strikingly green and there are beautiful thatched farms.
