Tour of Geuldal, Gulpdal and Voerstreek

This route takes you through a beautiful landscape that is characterized by wooded areas on and around the hills, alternating with heathland. The Gulp (a branch of the Geul) and the Voer meander beautifully through the rolling landscape here. Narrow roads lead you time and again to surprising views on top of the hill. You drive via Slenaken to the Voerstreek. You also pass Kasteel Libeek, the oldest parts of which date from the thirteenth century. The fortress has gradually been converted into a leasehold farm and it is the largest Limburg farm with a square courtyard. Stop off in Noorbeek at Eetcafe Tinus! Then you discover Groenendaal: a large nineteenth-century farm that was once a castle. You drive back via Mechelen and the Vijlenerbos. Here you have beautiful views between the trees!
