A look through the history of Haarzuilens

Your walk starts at Geertjes Hoeve, an organic experience farm in Haarzuilens. There is a lot to do here with a farm restaurant, cheese factory and farm shop. Via the Haarrijnse Plas you walk through the authentic village of Haarzuilens. After a stop at your starting point, you walk to Den Ham, the largest medieval residential tower in our country, measuring 27 meters high. De Haar Castle is the highlight of this route, it is the largest castle in the Netherlands. The castle originally dates from the fourteenth century, the current castle was rebuilt in 1892 in neo-Gothic style. Baron Étienne van Zuylen van Nyevelt van de Haar, after consultation with the residents, also had the original village of Haarzuilens rebuilt one kilometer to the east. The current Roman garden was built on the vacant land.
