Round Wadden Sea and Dokkum

Northeast-Fryslân is easy to explore by bicycle. You drive here through a wide landscape of grasslands, canals and reed beds. Ideal for switching back for a day. You drive along the dike to Moddergat, which enjoys a protected village view. At Oere 36 in Moddergat there is still a small hut: an outbuilding where fishermen used to store their nets. You can also view the Vissersmonument on the dike. From here you have a beautiful view of the Wadden Sea and the salt marsh landscape of the Peazemerlannen. There are also several ancient churches on mounds along your route, such as in Wierum and Aalsum. You cycle a bit through Dokkum, via Oostrum and Ee you drive back to Anjum. After getting off you can enjoy a delicious meal at Hotel Restaurant Toxopeus.
