Walk Anjum and bird meadow area

Hotel Restaurant Toxopeus is an ideal base for a hike. First you walk a bit through Anjum. At the top of the terp you walk past Michaelkerk. This building originally dates from 1100 and is partly made of tuff. The route then takes you on car-free paths through the countryside. You walk here along vast grasslands that are intersected by countless ditches. A great landscape to get a breath of fresh air, while watching the grazing horses and sheep. You can also spot meadow birds here. Wigeons and curlews populate the area during bird migration. Large groups of geese also hibernate here. You pass some old farms, you also pass De Eendracht, a corn mill from 1889. Then it's time for a snack and a drink at Toxopeus.
