Round Rhenen

The Lower Rhine flows just below the Utrecht town of Rhenen. If you cross that river, you enter the inner garden of the Netherlands where mainly fruit is grown: the Neder-Betuwe. This route leads you through this special area that lies between the Lower Rhine and the Waal. Halfway through your cycle tour you will arrive at the National Fruit Park. Take a tour of the orchards or explore on your own. Is the fruit ripe? Then you can walk around here with delicious sweets that you pick from the trees yourself. Along the way you will pass villages such as Opheusden, Dodewaard, Ochten and Kesteren. The route leads you through a landscape of wet and dry meadows, floodplains with new nature and wide views over slowly flowing water.
