Your route starts at Brasserie Bij Daan. Nearby you can cycle along the towpath on the Oude Hillegommerbeek. Here you see a beautiful hedge, like bulb growers used to plant as a plot divider. They are not only characteristic of the region, but also a popular breeding ground for birds. You drive through the forests of Aerdenhout, the village known for its majestic villas. A little further on you pass through the Leyduin nature reserve, a series of the three country estates Leyduin, Woestduin and Vinkenduin. A little later you enter Groenendaal, an ancient forest that once consisted of a number of estates. Here is the Groenendaalse Mill, which probably dates from the end of the eighteenth century. It is the only mill in the Netherlands with a double rack.
