After a cup of coffee at Park Drentheland, put on your walking shoes. The campsite is located on the edge of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park, you can walk straight into it. You will see native species such as oak and Scots pine, but also exotic trees such as Douglas fir and Japanese larch. You walk through the forest to the Aeckingermeer, or Canadameer. A beautiful spot in nature, where you can also swim. Lake Canada was dug in the 1960s as a sand extraction location. The water quality is particularly good because it is fed by groundwater. As a result, special plants occur. Because of the swimmers, little sediment reaches the banks and the shore herbs benefit from this. You walk back through the Drenthe village of Zorgvlied.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
