Tour of Zuursche Duinen from America

Camping Ronostrand is the base for this walking route. The campsite is located in America, a hamlet consisting of several scattered farms. They are all on one and the same winding road: America. From here you can take a beautiful walk through the Zuursche Duinen, a nature reserve consisting of heath, coniferous forest, drifting sand and fens. It is part of the Norger esdorpen landscape reserve. Thanks to the mosaic of forest, rolling fields, ash trees and Saxon farms, you can experience the unique combination of Drenthe's nature and cultural history. In the Zuursche Duinen you will find a lot of heathland, which is great for heathland birds such as the stonechat. Every now and then you suddenly smell thyme while walking: wild thyme grows here and there! On the Steenbergerveld you will find typical meadow birds such as the lapwing and godwit.
