Tour of Soesterberg Air Base and Austerlitz Pyramid

You will soon cycle through the stately forests on the edge of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Here you will visit lovely villages such as Bosch en Duin and Huis ter Heide. Rich merchants built their holiday homes here around 1900. Further along the route you will pass an interesting stop to take a break: the National Military Museum, a new museum on the former Soesterberg air base. Here you can see historic tanks, aircraft and weapons in a beautiful modern building. At the highest point of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug you will pass the Pyramid of Austerlitz, built in the nineteenth century by a French general as a tribute to Napoléon Bonaparte. Napoleon won an important battle in Austerlitz, Czech Republic, in 1805.
