Tour of Springendal from Ootmarsum

From Bed and Breakfast Erve Höwerboer you can walk straight into Ootmarsum. You will pass Engels Tuin, a special park. You then walk on an unpaved path between the meadows and fields along the sloping Kersberg. You will pass some beautiful old farms. A little later you enter the woods of the Springendal. This nature reserve was laid out in 1920 by an Enschede textile baron in the style of an English country estate. The crystal clear water of the streams comes from springs that bubble up from the bottom of the Springendal. Back in Ootmarsum, the old center has a cozy and historic atmosphere. One of the eye-catchers is the HH Simon and Judas Church from the thirteenth century: the only church in the Netherlands built in Westphalian Romano-Gothic style.
