Cycling through cozy Utrecht and outlying areas

From the starting point in Maartensdijk, close to Utrecht, you quickly cycle between the trees: these are the stately forests on the edge of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Here you will visit lovely villages such as Bosch en Duin, Huis ter Heide and Den Dolder. Wealthy merchants built their holiday homes here around 1900. Some of these beautiful houses such as Lovdalla and Huis ter Wege can still be admired in this area. You will discover Molen Rijn en Zon, a flour mill from 1913 that still runs regularly. Then you cycle through the Maarsseveense Plassen into the vast polder, back to your starting point.
