Description
The route starts at Museum Farm Tante Jaantje. The first kilometers you drive in the lee behind the dunes. A nice way to relax your legs. You pass through Mennonietenbuurt, a settlement founded by Mennonites in the eighteenth century. A little further on you cross the Noordhollandsch Kanaal via an old-fashioned raft bridge, one of the few in the Netherlands. In the Zijpepolder you drive past the seventeenth-century Zijpe Noorder-G and the Zijpe Zuider-G, which dates from 1598. Just past the picturesque Schagen you can see the Zijpe PV from the seventeenth century and its neighbor the Zijpe P from 1895. The village of Oude Sluis was originally located on the Zuiderzee. VOC ships once moored here.
