Noordervaart - Bahnroute

Napoleon once planned the North Canal to cut off the Dutch from the Rhine trade. Construction started in 1808, but it was soon no longer desired due to changing political circumstances and work was finally stopped in 1810. The 100 km long - 60 km on German and 40 km on Dutch plot -'Fietsallee along the Noordervaart\\\' connects new and old tracks around Napoleon's canal project. A blue band marks the entire length of the route between the German Neuss and the Dutch Nederweert. It is visible as a bottom mark or in the form of stems. In the Netherlands there are blue markings on the lampposts that mark the route of the bicycle allee. Along the cycle route, orange-white striped marker rods, which resemble measuring rods, show the planned path of the North Canal through the landscape.
